GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Many people now wear face coverings to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.  But that wave of change has some ripple effects.
"The mask has taken away about 95% of the ability to understand what people are saying," Joey Christensen said.

From driver's license exams and doctor's appointments, to distance learning, or even just ordering fast food, Emjay, Jessica and Joey all say it's the same.

They can hear people, but they can't understand them with their face masks on.

"It's like kind of turning down the volume just a little bit, because the sound waves aren't going straight, it's just bouncing back at the person," Emjay Hilliker said. "It's kind of muffled a little bit, it's kind of like going under water."

Thank you WLUK Babs Santos for the interview on June 26, 2020 with Jenny Geiken, Hand-N-Hand Founder & Director, Joe Christensen, Jessica Kerscher, Emjay Hilliker, Jessica and Ellie Melchert and Leanne Helmrich (interpreter).  Hand-N-Hand appreciates any opportunity to offer support and spread awareness.
